Connected Mobility

The smart future on the topic of networked mobility

Best Practice

Connected Mobility

The campaign "Connected Mobility - the smart future (ICM)", has been created in Upper Austria to put the focus on connected mobility. The Business Upper Austria Automotive cluster and the IT cluster have set themselves the goal with this campaign of designing digital mobility solutions for the future in a smart way. The initiative serves as an incubator, catalyst and hub for innovative ideas and projects within the broad field of digitisation and connected mobility.

By actively linking the two industries, ways for developing new technologies are created that benefit (Upper) Austria and lead to the creation of a new focal area of business and industry.

Test region DigiTrans

The DigiTrans test region project aims to prepare the Linz - Wels - Steyr region as well as adjacent manufacturing and freight areas for modern, integrated multi-modal goods mobility using domestic waterways and air transport.
The core of DigiTrans is:

  • Demand-oriented focus on commercial vehicles and special-purpose vehicles to promote innovation for automation and networking
  • Effect-oriented inclusion of logistics hubs (e.g. Ennshafen, airport, additional company premises) Targeted regional expansion and joint use of infrastructure beyond Upper Austria (e.g. Vienna, Styria, Bavaria)

The recently approved project of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) "AUTILITY" (Automated auxiliary platform for transport and work processes) is one of the first applications to be implemented with the support of the DigiTrans GmbH test region.
