Key Areas

Upper Austria sets 5 digitalisation priorities

Upper Austria focuses on five key areas in the field of digitization: training & qualification, smart mobility, smart production, smart processes and smart services. The Business Upper Austria IT cluster, mechatronics cluster and medical technology cluster work together in cross-industry initiatives to exploit synergies, bring together know-how and thus generate new added value for Upper Austria.

We come from Austria's "Silicon Valley" and also have our company headquarters where Austrian technical innovations are developed more often than elsewhere in the country: Softwarepark Hagenberg in Upper Austria. This is a location where research and development have their origins, networked and forward-looking thought and action take centre stage, and investment in them is encouraged.

Because the Upper Austrian University of Applied Sciences has so much in common with leading Upper Austrian companies in terms of research & development, we are able to implement cutting edge research in practice. This applies in particular to digitisation in the areas of production, product development, security, energy and mobility. This maximises the benefits for both the economy and society.

Prof. Dr. Johann Kastner, Director, University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria Research & Development

I moved to Austria with my wife and 2 small children because I wanted a different kind of setting for my children and a bilingual environment. Business Upper Austria has been a great help for understanding the economics of Upper Austria and a bit of its culture. They actually inspired me to start creating a Mobile App that will help others to integrate as they join different communities.
